Apple Dumplings

6 apples, peeled and halved.

Dough:
2 c. flour
2 1/2 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
2/3 c. shortening
1/2 c. milk

Sauce:
2 c. brown sugar
2 c. water
1/4 c. butter
1/2 t. cinnamon

Combine dough ingredients. Roll out and cut into squares. Place 1 apple half on each square. Wet edges of dough and press into a ball around apple. Place dumplings into a baking pan. Pour sauce over dumplings and bake until golden brown
