2/3 c. shortening
2 1/2 c. flour
1 2/3 c. sugar
1 1/4 t. baking powder
1 t. baking soda
1 t. salt
2 eggs
1 1/4 c. mashed bananas
1 t. vanilla
2/3 c. buttermilk
Caramel Frosting:
1 c. sugar
1/2 c. buttermilk
1/2 t. Baking soda
1/2 t. vanilla
1/2 c. butter
Mix first 6 ingredients until crumbly, then add next 4 ingredients. Beat 2 minutes. Pour into 13 x 9 pan. Bake at 350 for 35 minutes. Cool 10 minutes, then frost.
Frosting:
Cook over medium heat, stirring frequently. Cook to soft boil stage. Cool 5 minutes then beat until glossy
