Chocolate Chip Bars

1 C. melted butter
1/2 C. white sugar
1 1/2 C. brown sugar
3 eggs, separated
2 C. flour
1/4 t. salt
1 t. baking powder
1/4 t. baking soda
1 1/2 t. vanilla
6 oz. chocolate chips

Directions:

Cream butter, white sugar and 1/2 C. brown sugar. Add egg yolks and 1 t. water and beat well. Combine flour salt, soda and baking powder. Mix well with creamed mixture. Add 1 t. vanilla. Spread in 13 x 9 pan. Sprinkle chocolate chips over batter. Make a meringue of egg whites, beaten stiff with remaining brown sugar and vanilla. Spread over cookie dough and bake at 350 for 25 minutes
