Chocolate Chip Blonde Brownie

2/3 c. shortening
2 T. hot water
2 c. brown sugar
2 eggs
2 tsp. vanilla
1 tsp. baking powder
¼ tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. salt
2 c. flour
½ c. chocolate chips


Cream butter and sugars; add hot water, eggs and vanilla. Stir well, then add dry ingredients. Spread into a greased 13 x 9 pan; sprinkle chocolate chips over top. Bake at 350 degrees for 25-30 minutes. Cool slightly, then cut in squares
