1 1/2 T. yeast
1/3 c. warm water
3/4 c. milk
1/2 c. oleo
1/4 t. salt
1/2 c. sugar
2 beaten eggs
4 c. bread flour (approx.)
Dissolve the yeast in the warm water. Heat the milk just until hot. To the milk, add the oleo, salt and sugar. Beat the eggs and add to the milk after it is lukewarm, then add the yeast mixture. Blend in the flour. Let rise 1 hour. Work into 3 pie pans and put crumbs on top.
Let rise again, then bake at 400 for 15 to 20 minutes. When cool, slice cakes through the middle (horizontally) and add a layer of the filling. Drizzle remaining filling on top.
Crumbs:
Combine 1/2 c. brown sugar, 1/4 c. flour, 1 t. cinnamon and 1 T. oleo.
Filling:
Boil together 4 T. white sugar and 4 T. water for 5 minutes or until syrupy, set aside.
Mix 1/2 c. Crisco and 1/2 c. oleo thoroughly. Add 1 egg and 1/2 t. vanilla, then add sugar syrup mixture. Stir in 2 to 4 c. powdered sugar.
