2 c. flour
1 T. sugar
3 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
½ c. lard
1 well-beaten egg
2/3 c. milk
½ tsp. salt

Directions

Sift dry ingredients together; cut in lard. Combine egg and milk; add to mixture all at once. Stir until mixed, but sticky, then turn onto a floured board and knead 15 minutes. Drop, or roll to ¾ in thickness. Cut with a glass dipped in flour. Bake in a 450 degree oven for 15 minutes, or until brown.
