White Bread

First Part:
1 c. lukewarm water
1 T. sugar
2 T. yeast

Second Part:
1/4 c. sugar
1/2 T. salt
1/4 c. shortening
1 qt. warm water

First Part:
In a small bowl, mix together ingredients and set aside

Second Part:
In a large bowl combine the sugar, salt, shortening and warm water. Add 2 cups of flour and beat. Add mixture from small bowl along with 2 more cups of flour. (Additional flour as needed). Knead until dough is firm and elastic. Let rise.
